Kids Club ... Day 7

Greeting you from Kids Club!

THANKS FOR YOUR STEADFAST INTERCESSION

We are winding into the final days we will have together this year.  It has been powerful ministry, with many children and young leaders sensing the safety, love and nurture of a community that is one in Christ.  It is the love of God that attaches itself to making bird houses, visiting a recycling plant, going swimming, eating lunch -- these fun and really ordinary experiences feel gigantic inside an intentional community that is largely about communicating the greatest good news.

Our hearts break almost daily right now as the needs of many of our kids become exposed.  Our children have lived through many tortures.  I heard today of a mother who poured caustic substances all over her children.  A child fears coming to Christ because of the demonic voices in her head and home.  A little boy who is only five, and can get into almost a catatonic state.  Angry children and sad children ... yet, today had amazing moments that felt so free from all of that, as painting crafts, beauty and dance classes, field trips and soccer and basket ball went on with leaders and friends.  We have prayed incessantly for the delight of these days to be salve to broken hearts, for the words of God's love to pierce the darkness and for children to grab a hold of them with whatever faith they might find.

You have heard me describe the warfare ... it is real.  WE came home to a break-in, that looked a lot like kids.  VCR, Chris's DVD collection and all his computer games, a stereo speaker, all stolen.  I said to one really troubled kid tonight, who we rarely see anymore, who randomly called on the phone ... "that Kids Club is a time when Satan gets a hold of someone he can manipulate during these weeks of spiritual breakthrough for other kids.  It is so sad that some kids are so vulnerable to his power.  Yet God is greater still."  "I've never been in Chris' room" was his strange response.

Tomorrow we take the 6-8 graders to the lake for the day.  What a thrill -- what a wonderful day it will be.  Pray for safety and for the others who will also have wonderful days -- the new science museum (5th grade) trip is also tomorrow, some kids go Kiwana's Park to the wave pool, the last day is celebration with step dancers, Native American bird singers a magician and other great fun.

We are tired, yet alive in our hearts with what God is doing in this wild world of Kids Club.  I can tell you that it is amazing what God's love can do.

Pray for Breakthrough!

Love,
Kit
