THIS SUMMER, 2000 Dearest Praying Friends, For Neighborhood Ministries, the closing days of May mean the inauguration of summer ministries.  Possibly, the most powerful gift of the multiple rich activities of the summer is the training and nurture of emerging urban leaders. These young people take on varied challenges and accept gladly, many sacrifices. Taking on the title of summer intern, they work hard, accept spiritual disciplines, and receive seasoned wisdom from those who have gone before. They know that they will be the door through which many will enter the Kingdom this summer.  I wanted you to meet our summer interns, just briefly, so that you could be praying for them throughout the summer. They are trusting the Lord for their support raising, needed strength and team unity. They are learning to invest deeply in prayer. Thanks for this gift of prayer to us. MEET THE INTERNS: RAUL SIDA My name is Raul Sida. I am 17 years old and currently a junior in high school. I have been involved with Neighborhood Ministries for about 2 and ½ years now. This year I was so surprised that Kit let me do an internship with the CREW. I am very happy to be here and I plan to stay. The Lord has blessed me in many ways and helped me in every way possible. I am doing this internship because not only do I want to grow in God, but serve Him and as many people as possible. I love the kids, and I want them to beat me up and play with me. I ask you to pray for me as many times as I come to your mind. I pray for patience and understanding. I know the Lord will work in many ways, and will help me love the kids and be humble. Thank you so much.  CARLOS PALOMO-TORRES I am 19 and growing strongly with the Lord. The last years have been incredible in my growth and now I feel I am ready for an internship with Neighborhood Ministries. My closeness to Christ now has made me really dedicated to the ministry. I have even put my music career on hold so that I can grow with God. I still have many doubts and questions, but hopefully the Lord will answer most of them soon. Thank you for praying for me.  DIANE MARIE CREW My name is Diane Marie Crew. I am a student at Northern Arizona University and I am almost twenty years old. This is my fifth year with Neighborhood Ministries. This is my first year as an intern. I am really excited about this and I know that this will be a challenging summer. God will stretch me and make me grow in ways that I never knew were possible. I am excited to see what He will do in my life and the lives around me. Pray for my stamina, vision and gifts of love to many children. Thanks.  MELISSA RIVERA My name is Melissa Rivera. I am a 17 year old senior at Trevor Browne High School. I've been a part of Neighborhood Ministries for about 7 or 8 years. This is my first year as an intern and I know it will be very challenging. I'd appreciate it if you would please pray for me so that the Lord can give me strength to finish the work he started in me. Thank You. SARAH CALLAHAN My name is Sarah Callahan and I am 18 and a graduate from Horizon High School. This is my 3rd year with Kids Club but my first year as an intern with Neighborhood Ministries. This summer is going to so very hard but I am looking forward to what Christ teaches me this summer. Please pray that I'll be able to trust the Lord with every aspect of my summer. JAMAL PYE I am Jamal Pye and I am 27 years old. I have been involved with Kids Club and Neighborhood Ministries for about 10 years. This is my first year being an intern for the summer. I have been raising my support and it is exciting to experience the support of those who believe in me and the influence I will have on kids in the hood. I also will be driving one of the buses everyday, and driving for the 60 work crew at night. My responsibilities are in many areas of leadership this summer and with the younger leaders on the work crew. I hope you will pray for me to receive vision from the Lord for all he has in mind for me as I serve him. I have a very strong calling to be in these neighborhoods rescuing kids. Thank you.  ANDY ALLEN I'm Andy Allen, and I've been doing Neighborhood Ministries for 4 years now. Before doing this I thought that the only ministry was through my church Open Door Fellowship. Through doing this I've seen the unbelievable impact these leaders have on the children's lives. I have moved up with the kids in my group for all 4 years, since 2nd grade. I love these kids to death and I truly believe that they have impacted my heart as much as I have theirs. Through this internship I feel that Christ will work in and through me. I'm leaving my heart open to what ever He has in store for me. I hope that I can be in impact in some kids lives this summer. I hope you will pray for me, to that end. Thank You.
