Fire at the Center - March 28, 2001

Dearest Praying Friends,

Wanted you to know some breaking news, as it relates to God's timing in launching the building of Phase I, at The Neighborhood Center.

We have noticed a week or so of spiritual attack already. A N.M. van blew a head gasket, some relational conflict of a serious nature, trouble with homeless kids, etc. It was a tough week. We knew God was holding us together, for the vision of the center and its construction was before us, and moving forward still. The timing of the attack made sense, as the construction was about to begin. We prayed.

This morning we woke up to a friend at the door, 6:30 am. The T.V. news was broadcasting that a warehouse was on fire and the street cordoned off, at 19th Ave. and Van Buren. The second station ran the same news, this time mentioning the warehouse owned by Neighborhood Ministries.

We ran down there, finding the fire about out, and what was left dangerously dilapidated. The smell was horrific, the last of the seed mill remnants smoldering and black. This massive warehouse was a storage for N.M., for our kitchen equipment, ready to be installed once construction was finished, and carnival games that took our staff months to construct. Yet, the warehouse (one of 18 originally on the property) was the only warehouse that was kind of optional. It held no real importance right now, not used by any of our tenants or designed for Phase I. Also, the fire was contained to that building only, not spreading to the other warehouses where our tenants work. (One has a wood-working business, who felt like his business was potential kindling.) Miraculous. What we lost was $200,000.00 in donated kitchen equipment. What we realized, was an old message. Satan does not want this center built. His noise and disruption was reduced by God to the only disposable building on the property.

Will you pray with us that God's work goes forward without a glitch and that the Center and this ministry and those invested here remain protected from the onslaught. This is a critical time for prayer, we really need you.

God Bless you, continue to check the web-page for fire updates, as well as construction updates.

We love you, Kit
