Neighborhood Ministries Summer -- 2001

Dear Praying Friends,

Summer programs with N.M. are already launched and all about us. We are grateful for your partnership and would ask you to pray with us:

INTERNS

For nine of the eleven interns, the summer experience began the last week of May. The final two joined us this past Saturday, recruits through the international organization, Food for the Hungry. These young people will work very hard this summer. Their training and exposure will be valuable tools for life. God has given us a mature and committed team. We love watching them in action.

Please pray for their work, strength, influence, understanding, development, relationships, heart change ...

Pray for Sara, Sarah, Amy, Nely, Andy, John, Sarah, Amber, Daphne, Rogelio and Allison.

I will have them introduce themselves to you in more detail next week.

JUNIOR HIGH CAMP

... began this weekend. Though it started with a broken transport vehicle and another van down, the recovery was quick ... we watched the beauty of 70 kids and leaders together experiencing the joy of the Lord and the Arizona mountains. They are at the beach in California today and go to Magic Mountain tomorrow. Three urban ministries are together for this camp.
N.M. high schoolers provided the 15 person work-crew doing the servant tasks all week-end long, making much of the camp possible.

PRAY for ongoing spiritual breakthroughs and for deeper development of relationships with kids.

MEXICO

A smaller group left for Mexico today with folks from the churches at the Neighborhood Center (and some N.M. interns) to do projects with one of our families who has property and family in Mexico. 

PRAY for the project that supplies and resources might be found in Mexico and for its completion. Also, for developing relationships with the family and on the team.

HIGH SCHOOL CAMP

Next week 36-40 Neighborhood Ministries young people plus 10 of their leaders leave for California for a week together in a camp of their own. Their theme: "My identity in Christ". As Latino youth, they will go deeper into their cultural identity also-with the many wonderful opportunities in L.A.

PRAY for these young people as they grow in Christ, in wholeness, in faith for their futures. Pray for their leaders as they do the final preparations for camp this week. Pray that the camp week will be a time where these young people will grow to trust and rely on God in a deeper way and on their leaders as mentors.

KIDS CLUB-June 25 - July 6

Kids Club preparations are in the final stages. As you know, this program is the most cherished of the year and also the most involved. 400 kids will be enrolled, 70 work crew will live together to work the program, 50 other staff will come alongside. 

We need lots of prayer-

• for the church hosting us, Grace Lutheran
• for the spiritual warfare that comes
• for these final two weeks of preparations
• for safety in travel during the two weeks
• for the classroom teaching-teachers prepared 
  and focused
• for the morning program-spiritual and exciting
• for field trips and afternoon classes-life enriching
• for sports and recreation days-fun and challenging
• for Lake Day-powerful and protected
• for the final day-memorable and rich

WE HAVE A GREAT NEED FOR KIDS CLUB:
Friday, June 29th is Lake Day @ Canyon Lake 9:30am - 2:30pm There are boat rides for small groups of kids. WE NEED MORE VOLUNTEER BOAT OWNERS TO COME OUT THAT DAY!!!!!
Bring life preservers for all kids who will be on the boat at a time. Tow kids on an inner-tube or a boogie board!
No kids will be water-skiing, jet-skiing, etc.

Boats are urgently needed!!!!! 
So far, we have only 1 of 7 MORE boats needed.
This is one of the highlights of Kids Club each year. You can give our kids an incredible gift by bringing your boat up to Canyon Lake for KIDS CLUB LAKE DAY 2001!

Thanks for keeping us in prayer. The many activities underway are devoted to the Lord. It is the desire of all involved that He be lifted up this summer so that the kids in our ministry might come to know Him in a deeper way.

PROPERTY-CHECK OUT THE WEB SITE. WALLS ARE GOING UP ON THE CLASSROOM BUILDING, KITCHEN AND BATHROOMS. THE WAREHOUSE IS GETTING READY TO BE DEMOED FOR ITS REMODEL. IT IS VERY EXCITING AROUND HERE AND BUSY.
