Kids Club Update

Wanted you to pray this morning as all 500 of us head out to Canyon Lake for Lake Day. This is usually one of the miracle days of the ministry during the year, and especially during Kids Club.

Many children are preparing their testimonies for baptism. A new tradition which began last year as a few of our old-timers wanted that location during Kids Club to be the place where they were baptized. Yesterday, many children worked hard to get their stories on paper, part of the tradition is to read their testimony before the whole 500. Their stories are filled with how much they love the Lord, when they first gave their hearts to Christ, and how they are watching him change them.

I thought you might like to get a glimpse of one of the testimonies I helped with yesterday:

My name is Juanita Rosario Thomas. I am 10 years old. My birthday is on November 20, 1990. I have been at Monday night church since I was three years old.

And the leaders have taught me well about Jesus and about how He died on the cross for our sins. I have had Jesus in my life since I was five years old. I asked Jesus into my heart then.

My family has had a rough time throughout these years. They have always loved me and cared for me and they are all special to me.

My mom has been a wheelchair almost five years because she stepped on some glass and lost now both legs to diabetes, and so she can't do some of the things we can do. My brother Angel is in prison because he was doing drugs and I hope that when he gets out of prison he could change his whole life around.

Kit Danley has known me since I was a baby and my family too.

I was saved when I asked Jesus into my heart. Since that day, I have been starting to know Jesus even better. And He is working real hard on my life. The way I know this, is because I can feel it. Before, I used to listen to rap on Power 92. And now, I hardly listen to it. That is one example. I know God is willing to walk with me every step I go. And I know that He will never leave me.

One day, my cousin Juanito came over. And my other cousin named Isaac also came over. That night, we were talking about God, because Isaac doesn't know about God. Juanito and me kept on talking, and Isaac always said God never existed. To which, me and Juanito said He always existed and that He died on the cross for our sins. And Isaac said he would live with the devil. I didn't know what to say, but as I was talking, I could feel God working through me. I just knew an angel was standing right beside me cause I could feel it.

I like school because I like to learn. But one thing I don't like is math. I always wished I would go to college. I just know that God will be with me every step of the way, even in math. He will help me with everything I need.

My favorite verse is: Ephesians 6:10,11 - "Be strong with the Lord's mighty power. Put on all God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies and tricks of the devil."

Meanwhile, Kids Club continues to reveal the hand of the Lord. We have had a great week. We can sense the intercession that is being lifted up for us. We have had many wonderful moments on trips, in worship or classes. Our sense of community is powerful. Imagine a group our size feeling like family. It does!

True to form, Kids Club is fraught with vehicle problems, every day. These are usually annoyances, never shutting anything down or even creating a whole lot of distress. It does get exhausting though, all those nuisances.

  • PRAY today as we take these old buses and vans to the lake that they make it safely and don't break down.
  • Pray for the kids who have yet to make decisions for Christ after many years. Pray that their faith might be enlarged.
  • Pray for the work crew who are tired and working so hard. Pray particularly for Victor who is struggling.
  • Pray for Amber, and other team leaders for strength and wisdom.
  • Pray for preparation for next week.

Just had a mom call whose daughter is on work crew and called her at midnight letting her know she was preparing for her baptism today. Looks like many leaders will also be baptized today. Pray for them, their influence and testimony to the kids they lead.

Bless you dear friends for your commitment to intercession.

Love, Kit
