Summer Prayer Letter # 4
thank you for praying for the many requests of the last weeks ...
God is revealing Himself through your intercession
-
the
family who lost their baby is responding so well to many spiritual
counselors. the funeral is scheduled for Sat. and our Spanish
ministers are doing the services. the older sister who you have
been praying for, today, asked for scripture verses to minister
hope to her younger sister (the mother of the baby). she is also
taking a role in the graveside service. thanks for praying for
her to grow in faith. on Sunday i gave her the verses of crying
out to the Lord. (as an aside, we think God has provided a
miraculous lead to this older sister's childcare needs.)
-
the young
leaders (interns) you have been praying for are exhibiting great
love for each other in shouldering each other's loads, in creating
team for some who have rarely known this kind of experience, and
some are stronger than they have been before. they are heading
into two frontline weeks. please keep praying.
-
warfare is
everywhere -- broken watermain (yesterday), airconditioning out in
some places (yesterday), interns and staff with personal problems
and some getting sick (Monday)... yet, each obstacle receives
resources, sometimes immediately ... thanks for praying
-
we have found
lots of lost kids and have finished registering for Kids Club --
the energy grows for the first day

Arizona
-
the
kids did alot of
fishing
and caught whole bunches of rainbow trout and crawdads; eating
both ... then there was hiking on the black river
- the
kids enjoyed seeing
elk, osprey,
and there was a mexican
grey -
haired wolf sitting
-
then on
the
last night -- in
the tent
leaders
and kids pow-wowed
... one boy led the way, " I
want to talk about God ",
he said.
The Bible verse:
Eph 4:29 came
up and encouraging
talk was
the topic
== "remember how
hard it was this week to play frisbee, a new skill for so many of us ... we could
have made fun of each other or been discouraged with each other's
abilities, instead we practiced
encouraging each other ,
and got better at frisbee.
Life is like that, we keep trying, getting better, all the
while believing in
and supporting each other " ... then
one of the leaders gave his testimony ... the kids had great
focus, their leaders reported!
It was a week of growing together, deeper relationships built,
deeper commitment to each other and family and personal things
discussed
There were no serious fights and they
experienced great safety -- everyone says, "thanks for praying, it
was an amazing time"!
There are fires
in this area right now. Please pray to the Lord of heaven and earth
for rain. As of tonight 20,000 acres have been destroyed in a
run-away fire.
Alabama
the
I Can Do It
Jr
High Boys
group returned safely from
Alabama
Monday
evening.
The group enjoyed the hospitality of friends right on the shores of
Lake Tuscaloosa, just outside of Tuscaloosa Alabama.
It
wasn't long after the duffel bags were moved in before we were all
jumping in the water and learning the joys of knee boarding. Awesome
to see our young men performing 360's behind a boat their second
time up. I wonder what it would have been like to stay in the lake
the whole time? With the following exceptions we almost did :
We
learned
all about how to raise a crop of 250,000 pounds of catfish every 15
months or so. Well, almost 250,000 pounds. We caught enough to
feed two families for dinner, sweet tea hush puppies and all. The
highlight
was an 8 pound cat we wrestled out of the water.
We
enjoyed
the challenges of a low ropes course. Together we learned how to work together and encourage each other. Nothing like stretching your
muscles,
courage, and trust in each other all in one afternoon.
We
toured
the new Mercedes Benz plant in
Birmingham.
Amid
sparks flying,
we
learned how 2000 people working together produce over 340 cars each day by performing their appointed tasks in 2 minutes and 7
seconds.
We
chose up
teams and played Risk until all hours of the morning. We invested
time together in prayer and the scriptures. We affirmed our kids’
strengths and talked about how we need each other in Christ's body.
We
talked
about how God is completing the work He has started in each one of us. God is in the process of making us men of character and strength.
Our
last time on the lake the boys wanted to be pulled behind the boat
on the tube. With laughter and determination they gripped
tight, worked
together
to hold each other onto the tube, and with anticipation faced
the
challenging waves ahead.

Please continue to pray for our Jr. High Boys group; that they would grow
into their leadership potential, that they would continue to follow
their heart for God, and that they would find the courage
and faith to navigate
life.
Thank
you for your crying
out to God
for these many requests . God is revealing Himself
through your intercession.
Kids Club is right around the corner. We know that the Lord desires
to communicate
his love to these precious children. We'll keep you informed. We
love you,
Kit
Psalm 68:9,10
You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary
inheritance. Your people settled in it, and from your bounty, O
God, you provided for the poor. |
