Summer Prayer Letter # 6
KIDS
CLUB day #4 has just finished ...
and it is amazing ...
You have been praying for kids and 450 +
have
shown up at The Neighborhood Center, in fact we fed 530 people
yesterday
-
the
morning program is wall to wall kids in our new huge auditorium
... we sing worship songs and this year our special guests are
Bomb Pop and Chaco Taco, Kids Club superheros who we call The
Paletta Men! They have the funniest routine and an arch enemy,
darth veggie -- each morning they play games with the kids and
just today, one small boy who mostly speaks spanish, pulled his
tee shirt over his face, ran around the auditorium and said "I am
the Paletta Man" with superhero arms in place. Most of you know
that palettas are ice cream ... though there is alot of fun you cannot believe what it
sounds
like when 400 kids are singing beautiful songs to the Lord.
-
our
classes are packed with important small group time, Bible lessons
we ardently pray over, and projects that go along with the
stories. Some classes are huge, like my class 6th grade English
which has 70 kids. The last two days have been powerful with
lessons that bring some kids into clear awarenesses of truth ...
each teacher or work crew will tell you that to reach each kid
individually is our goal ... meanwhile, each day kids are
memorizing scripture, reviewing lessons, asking hard spiritual
questions and
learning to pray
-
field
trips have taken kids to the firestation, humane society, a
specialized heart center, a hospital, the Bank One Ballpark,
Phoenix Little Theatre, a grocery store, an
Arizona
dairy, a specialized gymnastics center ... just this week alone
-
other
recreational activities have found us swimming, roller skating,
bowling, doing something called a Mall Crawll (where you find
funny people in a mall for points, and a huge park day where we
used bikes from our Barrio Bikes ... did I mention lots of
swimming ...
You have been praying for our 70 work crew -- they are hard working,
tough, focused young people ... they are tired, but not beaten
down, and
according to one of their leaders, really
being impacted by all they are learning and many are
revealing their preparation for serving the Lord this way ...
we are particularly encouraged because some of
our own home grown
leaders are now showing great creativity in their leadership -- two
days ago they produced a drama for one of our stories ...
they work from sunup to sun down -- keep praying for these ones who
are called of God and are serving with devotion ...
-
pray for the ones who are renewing their commitment to Christ
wholeheartedly
-
pray for the ones who are learning new lessons and are overwhelmed
-
pray for the ones who recognize their leadership roles
-
pray for the ones who are struggling to love their team members
Please
pray for Lake Day tomorrow ...
Nothing
is more wonderful all year than going to
Canyon
Lake
each year with all 500 of us. Yet, it causes us great concern for
the safety of children, our vehicles and boat drivers.
-
Pray for the day, its memories and beauty
-
for each child to be protected
-
for those that plan on being baptized, professing their faith
We can't wait to report on this amazing day --
-
Please keep praying for
kids and their personal understandings that give hope, joy,
freedom and life in Christ
-
Please keep praying for each staff and worker for strength,
patience, love, insight, and discernment
-
Please keep praying for our vehicles and the miracles that they
are
By the way, I forgot to tell you ... the
miracle of our
playground arrived right before Kids Club
and we love it all day long ...
Your love and intercession is known in this place ... it sustains
us. We have had vehicle problems,
sicknesses, lost kids,
Canyon
Lake almost canceled, and relational issues of all kinds ... yet,
what is happening here, makes any difficulty make sense. God is working here ... i can't wait to continue to keep you
posted!
We love you,
Kit |
