Summer Prayer Letter # 9

Yesterday the Denver trip left, we formalized the list of High Schoolers going to Mexico and a few of the camping girls informed us that they were already packing for the camping trip.  So off we go again ... I've attached some prayer requests for the next launch ... we love you

Upcoming Ministry for Prayer

I Can Do It Trips --

July 11 -16  (Denver) -- Four high schoolers and their leaders will be working a dude ranch, horseback riding into the mountains, doing the theme park thing and risking adventure in Colorado.

  • Pray for safety,

  • some great spiritual conversations,

  • some goal setting to run the race toward high school graduation and

  • pray for the young lady on this team, the one who lost her baby.  Pray that she find some youthful moments this trip.

July   16 - 20  (camping in Arizona) -- Six young ladies (all fifth and sixth graders) and their leaders, will be braving the woods of Northern Arizona (not too far from where the fires were), fishing, hiking and camping outside in the wilderness.

  • Pray for the love these young girls share with one another, that in their community of friendship, they covenant together to stay on track in school and love God

  • Pray for this adventure, that it create memories for a lifetime

(I Can Do It is our comprehensive stay-in-school program for 45 5th -12th graders. After a year of help in school, academic tracking, positive peer group support, and multiple incentives - the final end year trips have been earned.)

Senior High trip to Kino Bay, Mexico, July 15-20

For many years our ministry has sent interns to accompany youth teams to build houses in Mexico.  For the past two years, and now this year, we have chosen a building project associated with our Spanish congregation at the Neighborhood Center, projects that match their commitment to serve those in their home towns or families back in Mexico.

Next Monday 35 of us will go down to Kino Bay to build a church for an old squatter community outside of Kino, called Camacho.  We will also bring down our Spanish curriculum from Kids Club and some Kids Club crafts and work with the children while the rest of the team does the construction work.  We have ministry friends in Kino and Camacho who will be participating, and the best is, we have 15 of our own ministry's highschoolers eager to give back to a very poor community.

  • Pray for the paper work to be in order for each person traveling into Mexico... we don't want to leave anyone behind!

  • Pray for our old crazy bus which is our mode of transportation ... pray that it and the "busted Dodge", our nickname for the van we are taking -- that these vehicles have great strength and health

  • Pray for our high schoolers, that they will be reminded of all the goodness of the Lord to them, as they work inside poverty greater than theirs

  • Pray for the times of worship, that they might renew the spirits and hearts, a few of our teens are coming back to youth group through this trip, we are amazed at who God has selected to be part of this

  • Pray for any children in Camacho where our presence is a divine appointment

  • Pray for these high schoolers as they are core kids, that they might be envisioned for all God is doing through this group for our coming school year

Thanks for keeping on keeping on ... you must feel exhausted sometimes, as one more email from us crosses your desk.  Oh no!  more prayer requests!  Yet, your intercession is felt in so many places.  Many huge interventions have taken place already.  God is so great to give us your support.  I'll report back soon.  God Bless you,  Kit
