Kids Club 2003

after week one
Our dear prayer guardians,

Thank you for praying this week ... please pray for us one more week
we have needed your support
GOD BLESS YOU FOR INTERCEDING FOR US. . . we can't predict what the tough issues will be during the two weeks of this program, but we know they will come..  One young work crew member had a crisis and is now hospitalized ... please pray for him and his family..  Conflicts with kids that have festered during the school year have been exposed and are facing potential reconciliation, but some not yet. Unresolved, issues in workers lives are being revealed under the stress of the hard work of the summer, and are flaring ...
we have needed protection
GOD IS PROVIDING IT. . . vehicles are working each day, with only a few interruptions ...Children are transported each day safely... neighborhood gang members have easily tolerated our junior high leaders painting over all the neighborhood graffiti ... work crew looked like it was passing the flu around and it was abated ...
we have needed God's presence
AND WE ARE EXPERIENCING IT. . . where outreach is happening, we can expect people to struggle with getting along ... (people fight over the smallest things) ... in some of our classes we are asking for God's love to break through ... already in one class where conflict was great, peace is replacing it ... some of our neighbors are in conflict over past offenses and their children share classrooms ... rival gang families have children here ...
we have needed grace revealed
AND IT IS. . . a great goal of this year's work crew has been to see all barriers come down, to see young developing leaders grow up in a context of racial reconciliation and indigenous leadership development ... this work crew has embraced this vision and needs us to continue to intercede for them for this ... young adults who grew up in Kids Club, and are already parents, have stepped into leadership on a larger scale than before, they are walking images of the stories the children are learning. ... the junior high leadership team (trained and prepared for this) are the first ever junior leader team to receive praise everyday, they are clearly astounding us

Pray
  • for the 80 person work crew -- strength for a final week of this "marathon run", growing and nurturing their relationships with each other, the hard work of loving their small group of kids, physical, emotional, spiritual health, for their living accommodations
    • for staff and teachers ... endurance, clarity in vision and mission, passion for kids and for their role in their lives
    • for problems that will arise ... wisdom, patience and strength
    • for broken things to be fixed (air conditioner, sprinklers ...)
    • for boats for Lake Day, safety and memories for Lake Day and for the baptisms there
-- Lake Day is July 11
And please pray that what every person experiences at Kids Club this summer is the abiding love of God ... that children who return to troubled places, neglectful adults, wounded turf ... that these very children sing songs of the God who passionately seeks them for his own ... that these very children run to him this week, so that they can run to him for all the next times ... i am hoping that next week i can share some of those testimonies with you once kids club is over.
We love you and remember you in our prayers,  Kit

IS THIS YEARS KIDS CLUB THEME VERSE
This is what the LORD says:
      "Stand at the crossroads and look;
      ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls."
