 Summer Prayer Letter #5
July 17th, 2007

High School Camp

Dear Praying Friends,

It is with enormous anticipation that we are sending off 65 high schoolers to camp tonight (Tuesday). This is probably because it is easily the most teenagers ever to go to a NM high school camp.  It is also because many of these have been in the trenches serving this summer, some as interns, and then the camp itself is an incredible opportunity.  The convergence seems divine.

Tonight 65 teens, 15 leaders pack into two charter buses and head to Colorado to Horn Creek Camp in the southern Colorado Rockies,  a 14 hour trip.

Lina Thompson, a well known urban youth specialist will be the camp speaker, taking our kids deeper into telling their stories, and telling them to God.  Talking to God is clearly the theme of our summer.  We are expecting the combination of what the kids have already been processing, with the beauty and power of the setting to allow God to work through Lina in a huge way.  Our kids will be journaling, worshipping and alone with God.  What a terrific matter for prayer.

This camp is something none of our kids have ever experienced: a ropes course, rec center (bowling alley, basketball, and rock climbing wall), horse back riding, water slides, night games, river rafting, bonfire, Horn Peak hike (13,000 ft), swimming pool, and a giant crazy alpine swing.

You have been so faithful to pray with us this summer.  Please pray for this camp, our 63 high schoolers, 15 leaders, Ian and Lina … --- and our Horn Creek friends who have invited us to be their first urban campers.

Wow!  I’m so aware of how excited I am about this camp.

Please Pray with us!  (and please Pray for the finances of this summer, still.  We’re not done and the summer is so expensive)

Love you,  kit
