Twelve years and a young mind spins,
Come into my neighborhood and you will find lost faces all living
with sins.
My mother, struggling working hard, but she gives me limited
availability.
My older brother high most of the time, no example of any form of
ability.
My sister, fifteen, pregnant but proud, won't stay down and needs no
pity.
I've never met my father. I guess it's safe to say my life holds
little stability.
Life, Life, Life, Life.
If able, Fight to hold your own.
Life, Life, Life, Life.
It's fabled to have a stable home.
Here comes these weird people, smiling,
To pick my neighbor up for a summer program.
He tells me, "You gotta come. It's a must."
It's called Kids Club. A club for kids, I guess it's a plus.
So I take a step and also get on that big green broken-down pickle
bus.
They take us on a drive far away. I think I get it, though.
Why would anybody wanna be in my part of town on any given day.
Life, Life,
Life, Life.
If able, Fight to hold your own.
Life, Life, Life, Life.
It's fabled to have a stable home.
Well two weeks fly by.
I have now been introduced and greeted by a man named Jesus.
My very own special Savior. What an emotional high.
I sing and praise with kids like myself. We all grow.
They say I can even bring my family.
But wait, they say. The next program begins in September,
And you gotta remember, we still don't have a facility.
Hey what about 67th and Indian School? No we're just guests there.
Oh well, I guess it's just like every other thing in my life,
Neighborhood Ministries, another home without stability.
Life, Life, Life, Life.
If able, Fight to hold your own.
Life, Life, Life, Life.
It's fabled to have a stable home.
They purchased property where? In my neighborhood?
Are they crazy? Don't they realize this place is no good.
This is not an area for any form of institution.
Are they blind to the problems and poverty?
Do they not see the drug addicts, gangs, and prostitution?
But guide to scripture. Go and help heal the sick, not the healthy.
So maybe here is where it starts, in a little burrow in central
Phoenix.
Now my family is coming. My family has accepted Christ.
It has brought us all together. We can call this place home forever.
Life, Life, Life, Life.
If able, Fight to hold your own.
Life, Life, Life, Life.
No longer fabled. Now we have a stable home.
