NM-Bosnia: from Nancy
Goodbye Sarajevo, Goodbye Mostar, Hello
Jajce!
Needless to say, Monday was a very
sad day for me as our team said goodbye to many friends (in
Sarajevo) and boarded a bus that took us to Mostar where we would
spend the next day and a half. The evening we arrived we had dinner
by the river (with Ryan & Todd Thurman, our friends from back
home in Phoenix) and it was a nice time as we heard what God has
been teaching them while they have been in Mostar (for almost 2
months now). Our time in Mostar seemed to go quickly as we spent the
full day we had at the container village playing with children,
shopping, eating, resting, hanging out at the drop-in center, etc. I
am glad for the opportunity to see Mostar and the city others have
been spreading the Good News in.
It is now Thursday and my heart is
still missing Sarajevo. I was touched deeply by the people and this
beautiful city and look forward to the day God will send me back. We
arrived in Jajce yesterday afternoon and it is a beautiful city with
a river and some waterfalls and I hope will be a place that provides
rest for our team. While I write this some of the girls are at the
park having a picnic lunch. Our daily routine here will not be as
scheduled as it has been the last two weeks which should be nice.
Last night we attended their devotional time and had an opportunity
to meet the team that is here from South Africa. This morning we
joined together again for a time of worship and prayer (which we
will also gather for tomorrow morning). Every afternoon from 3-5pm
the children gather for activities (sports, crafts, skits) which we
will prepare the three afternoons we are here. Tonight we have a
trip to the castle planned which I am excited about. Jajce is a
beautiful city on a hill; it is also cooler than Sarajevo and Mostar
which helps bring refreshment.
It is becoming harder for me to
process all of my thoughts as we have been traveling for two weeks
now and have seen many places and met many people. I look forward to
our last few days ahead here in Bosnia but am also looking forward
to my return home. When I left Sarajevo I felt like my trip had
ended and so I ask for prayer that I will not miss the blessings God
still has in store for me (& the rest of our team) in the other
parts of this country. I also ask for continued prayers for our
team-many of us our tired, fighting sickness and battling the
darkness of this world. Each bus ride brings sadness as we say
goodbye to the familiar that we leave behind. I guess that is all I
have inside of me to share at this time. Thank you for your on-going
love and support.
Because of Him,
~ nancy (for the team)
